Get Alerted When Faster Speeds Go Live In Your Area

Fibre broadband checker

If you want to see the benefit of high-speed fibre broadband, one of the first things you need to do is consult a fibre broadband area checker. Upon entering your postcode, you will be able to see if fibre optic broadband is available where you live. If the service confirms that fibre is available in your area, it may also double up as a fibre broadband speed checker. In that case, using it will tell you just how fast your fibre optic connection could be.

BT fibre broadband checker

The BT broadband fibre checker requires you to enter your postcode, and then optionally provide your address and landline phone number. Upon receiving this information, BT will tell you several things. First, it will inform you of whether you can receive BT fibre broadband. Second, it will tell you how fast you can expect your connection to be (if a fibre optic one is available). Finally, it will quote you BT’s lowest monthly price for the service – but do be aware that other broadband checkers may show you different ones. There is almost always more than one deal to be had when setting up your fibre optic broadband, as Compare Fibre’s own broadband checker and comparison service will make clear.

Sky fibre broadband checker

At present, Sky does not offer a fibre broadband postcode checker to potential customers via their website. Instead, you must begin the process of ordering one of their three broadband packages before it will tell you what kind of broadband is available in your area. Once more, it is a case of simply entering your postcode, after which they will let you know whether their fibre broadband is available near you. In addition, Sky will also inform you of the maximum speed they expect you would be able to receive on their network. If you do not want to go through the sign-up process to find this information, then it is possible to use one of many fibre broadband network checkers elsewhere online, including here at Compare Fibre.

Virgin Media fibre broadband checker

Virgin Media’s broadband postcode checker requires you to simply enter your postcode and select your address (with the additional option of providing your landline phone number). Once you have done this, they will present you with a variety of packages, including not only various combinations of broadband, TV and phone options, but also broadband-only deals. If you can see fibre broadband listed as an option here, then it is available in your area. If not, then Virgin Media cannot provide a fibre optic connection for you. Additionally, if you would like to see just how fast your Virgin Media fibre broadband could be, you simply have to select “View choices” underneath the broadband offers section of the page. From there, you should be able to see which fibre broadband packages without landline are available to you. These are explained in more detail on Virgin Media’s broadband speed page, which lists the minimum and expected speeds for both downloads and uploads, across all of their broadband packages, from M50 to Gig1 Fibre.

TalkTalk fibre broadband checker

TalkTalk’s fibre broadband postcode checker requires only your postcode and address, with the additional option of providing your landline phone number. If TalkTalk fibre is available where you live, it will display some of the packages they offer, alongside what they say are the typical ranges of download and upload speed in your area (for example “36Mb-37Mb”) and a guaranteed minimum download speed. In addition, TalkTalk will offer you a set price for each package they can offer but do remember that you may find a different one elsewhere. If you cannot see an option for fibre broadband on this page, then TalkTalk, unfortunately, does not currently offer the service in your area.

EE fibre broadband checker

EE’s postcode fibre optic broadband checker asks you for your postcode and address, along with the option to provide your landline phone number. If you do not want to provide that, or do not have a landline number, you must tick the relevant box beneath the information form. Once you have done this, you will be shown exactly what fibre optic broadband deals EE can offer you. If fibre broadband is not currently available in your area, you will be told that this is the result of “current capacity constraints”, and will be offered only non-fibre deals. Otherwise, you will be shown what they say will be your maximum speed (it does not differentiate this between download and upload) along with fibre broadband options that may include Fibre Plus and Fibre Broadband. Each of these will specify their price and speed, with the more expensive options being faster. It is important to remember that prices may vary when you look elsewhere, and indeed, EE will also tell you the lower price they offer for fibre optic broadband to customers on one of their pay monthly mobile contracts. You do not need to be on EE mobile to receive EE broadband, but if you are, that may open you up to some better deals with them.

Compare Fibre broadband checker

As an alternative to going straight to the fibre broadband coverage checkers of individual providers, Compare Fibre offers a comparison service that will look across a large number of them all at once, from the big companies to the smaller and less well-known ones. Simply enter your postcode in our fibre broadband deals checker, and we will present you with the offers available to you, along with Mb speed, contract length, download limits, call package, promotional offers and price per month. From there, you can filter your results and order them by price, so that you can be sure that you get exactly the deal that you want. Simply click through to your chosen provider with the “Buy Now” button, and follow the instructions on their website. With Compare Fibre, you can get yourself set up with lightning-fast fibre optic broadband in no time at all.
