Vodafone launches 6-months free Gigafast broadband packages

Vodafone is a well-known UK mobile network provider; however, its broadband packages are also making the headlines. The provider has announced welcome discounts to its popular Gigafast broadband packages. The 24-month packages are available with a range of speeds, with the fastest packages benefiting from the first 6 months free and other options still eligible for 3 months free broadband.

The news was announced shortly after Vodafone unveiled its 15th Gigafast location here in the UK. However, the impressive discounts are only available to new customers or those who are upgrading existing packages.

These Gigafast connections are capable of providing customers with speeds of up to 900Mbps, making Vodafone one of the fastest fibre providers in the country. The connections are provided via fibre-to-the-premises connections, otherwise known as FTTP connections. These full-fibre networks are gradually being rolled out across towns and cities throughout the UK, with technology providing full-fibre cables directly to customers’ homes. However, the fast speeds combined with the cost of installing fibre cables usually pushes prices up, so this really is a great offer from Vodafone.

How much could I save with 6-months free Vodafone fibre?

Vodafone is hoping that the offer of up to 6 months free broadband will entice new customers within the expanding connection areas. Those who choose the fastest 900Mbps Gigafast package could save up to £330, which is a significant saving especially as the expensive Christmas season approaches.

With many of us hoping for the latest devices for Christmas, it makes sense to upgrade to the best internet connection available. As household internet usage increases with more people looking to connect, the Vodafone Gigafast connections will definitely provide the service required.

If you already have a broadband package with another provider, it may still be possible to avail of the exclusive Vodafone deal. Conveniently, if you are within the last few months of your fixed-term broadband contract, you can still open a Vodafone Gigafast account. This will provide you with early access to improved broadband speeds, without having to pay for two separate packages, as there will be no double-paying for the free Vodafone months.

The deal is only available for a limited period of time and is expected to end on 19th November 2020. The following packages and discounts are available within this deal:

1) 100Mbps Gigafast package: £28 per month with 3 months free

2) 200Mbps Gigafast package: £35 per month with 3 months free

3) 500Mbps Gigafast package: £45 per month with 6 months free

4) 900Mbps Gigafast package: £55 per month with 6 months free

Is Vodafone Gigafast broadband available in my area?

What are the benefits of full fibre broadband?

According to Ofcom, in May 2020 the average UK household was experiencing download speeds of 64Mbps. Although this is sufficient for many homes, in comparison to many European countries and many areas within the UK, this is actually considered to be quite a low speed.

In comparison, FTTP broadband offers full-fibre connections with fibre optic cables running the entire length of the broadband network. The potential speeds with Gigafast broadband packages are roughly 14 times faster than average UK connections.

Many homes are currently using FTTC connections, which rely on dated copper cables to carry broadband from the street cabinet to individual homes. Unfortunately, these cables are not able to support the high-speed connections many homes are beginning to demand.

The government understands that as a nation we will need full-fibre coverage in the future, especially as homes begin to use more internet-enabled devices and smart home technology. This year has also seen more of us working from home than ever before, which has led to homeowners demanding improved upload and download speeds.

Although your current broadband package may have been acceptable 12 months ago, it is likely that your demands will change in the future. You may find that your current connection does not support online gaming, large file uploads or your new smart devices. To ensure you are always able to benefit from the best connection possible, it is advisable to upgrade to full-fibre connections. At speeds this fast, household battles over internet connections will be a thing of the past.

We know that every household is different, which is why we are committed to helping you find the best deals available for your new broadband contract. We have partnered with leading fibre broadband providers, such as Vodafone, BT, CityFibre and Sky, so that you can find the exact speeds you need at the most competitive prices.

This offer is certainly very tempting; however, it is important to compare the costs at the end of the deal against other similar packages. If you are lucky enough to be located in a Gigafast area, 6 months free broadband is sure to be an attractive deal. For those which are unable to connect to Gigafast networks, there may be other packages available which still offer improved speeds with fibre broadband.

This offer comes at a time when it is more important than ever for us to stay connected, without having to worry about the cost of broadband for the next 6 months. To find out more about this offer from Vodafone, please contact our knowledgeable team today.
