Get Alerted When Faster Speeds Go Live In Your Area

Community Fibre

Community Fibre Limited is an internet service provider which delivers fast broadband speeds to areas of London. The Community Fibre broadband connection is delivered via its own superfast fibre-optic lines, and with speeds of up to 3GB available, it is one of the fastest providers in the UK.

Although the service is currently available to just 200,000 businesses and homes within London, the company offers great speeds, competitive prices and Community Fibre reviews have situated it at the top of Trustpilot rankings. In this guide, we will take an in-depth look at Community Fibre, so that you can decide whether it is a provider worth considering for your broadband connection.

Overview Community Fibre London

Community Fibre is a London based company that aims to provide faster broadband connections at a fair price to those living and working in London. With data use in the average household doubling every two years, the fast and reliable connections offered by providers such as Community Fibre are becoming more important than ever.

Community Fibre is a 100% full-fibre network, which means customers benefit from symmetrical upload and download speeds. Unlike asymmetrical connections which offer much slower upload speeds, the Community Fibre connection runs straight from the exchange to your home, so you benefit from unrivalled and uncontested upload and download speeds. This is the fastest most reliable internet connection available, so you can be sure it will meet your connection needs both now and in the future.

Community Fibre availability

Around 200,000 homes and businesses across London are currently able to access Community Fibre broadband, however, this number is growing rapidly. Considering that in January 2020, just 100,000 properties were able to access Community Fibre, the scaling of availability is rapid.

So far, the service is predominately focused on the following London Boroughs, Barnet, Brent, City of London, Camden, Croydon, Hackney, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Lambeth, Islington, Lewisham, Newham, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Westminster, and Wandsworth. There is no guarantee that if you live in one of these areas that Community Fibre will be available, but it is always worth checking.

The easiest way to check whether Community Fibre is available in your area is to enter your postcode into the availability checker. Rather than searching using terms such as ‘Community Fibre Wandsworth’, simply enter your postcode into the quick tool and the available providers will be listed for you.

If Community Fibre is not available in your area, you can register your interest on the Community Fibre website. This means that once the service rolls out in your area, you will be contacted by Community Fibre to let you know that you are now eligible for a broadband connection.

If you are lucky enough to be located in a Community Fibre coverage area, you can select the option from the available list where you will be taken to the Community Fibre website. Simply pick your package or customise a bundle, choose an installation date and continue through the checkout process. The Community Fibre engineers will then get to work installing your connection.

Community Fibre broadband packages

With the fastest speeds available in London, it is no surprise that the Community Fibre broadband packages are proving to be very popular to those situated within the coverage area. There are five packages available, with benefits such as free installation and setup, unlimited data, no line rental, fixed-price contracts, a free MESH WiFi router and fully symmetric upload and download speeds.

One of the great benefits of Community Fibre packages is the flexibility, so each package is available with contract lengths of 24 months, 12 months or a 30-day rolling monthly contract length. However, it is worth noting that the fastest 3GBbps GigaFast package is only available with a 24-month contract.

Community Fibre 75Mbps Fibre Broadband

This is the entry-level package from Community Fibre and it offers users speeds of 75Mbps, which is ideal for small homes which need to connect a few devices, browse the internet and stream HD TV. It is very competitively priced at £20.00 per month, when signing up to a 24-month contract, with the price increasing to £22.00 per month for a 12-month contract and £25 per month for the monthly rolling option.

Community Fibre 200Mbps Fibre Broadband

The 200Mbps package offers 200Mbps speeds, which is ideal for the average to large home. If you need to connect multiple devices which need to browse the internet, download, and stream HD TV, this connection will support a few devices at once. At the moment, there is an offer to choose this package for the same price as the entry-level 75Mbps package. However, once this deal ends, the price begins at £25 per month for a 24-month contract, which is still very competitive.

Community Fibre 1Gbps Fibre Broadband

This 1Gbps connection is one of the fastest broadband connections available in the UK, so it is a great choice for large, busy homes with heavy internet usage. If multiple users will be watching 4K content, gaming and working from home at once, this connection will support your need. It costs £49 per month for a 24-month contract, £50 per month for a 12-month contract, and £54 per month for a monthly rolling contract.

Community Fibre 3 GigaFast

At 3Gbps, this package is the fastest internet connection available, offering unrivalled speeds, brilliant reliability, and business-grade connections. However, it is only available with 24-month contracts and costs £99 per month which is more expensive than more basic packages.

It is the fastest home broadband available in London, so if you are looking for the best, this package offers it. In fact, Community Fibre guarantees that there will be no buffering when trying to watch live TV, with multiple devices able to achieve 1Gbps speeds simultaneously. Whether you are holding video conferences, uploading large files when home working or streaming 4K TV, this is the connection type that will future-proof your home.

Community Fibre special offers

Many providers offer special deals to their new customers, and Community Fibre is no exception. At the time of writing, the latest offer provides double the usual Community Fibre speeds for the same price on certain broadband packages which are priced above £25 per month. There is a requirement to sign-up for a 24-month minimum contract term, although there is no setup fee.

In addition, if you are a fan of TV, broadband and phone bundles, you may be interested in the Community Fibre bundle deals. For example, the CommunityFibreTV deal is delivered via a partnership with Netgem TV. The prices start from £10 per month on top of your Community Fibre broadband cost and there is currently an offer for new customers to receive the first 3 months free.

The Netgem TV service offers 125 live TV channels, with more than 50 HD channels and premier sports channels. In addition, you will be able to access 30,000 hours of on-demand TV, unlimited mobile and tablet TV and you will receive a 1-year subscription to Amazon Prime. The 4K Netgem TV box is included in the price and you will be able to upgrade the service to premium packages if you wish.

Thanks to the full-fibre connection type, there is no need for a landline connection, which means you do not have to pay the line rental fee that other providers often charge. However, if you do want a landline, it is possible to arrange a home phone service with Community Fibre. The service is delivered via a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) connection and will cost an additional £10 per month. The service includes unlimited calls to UK mobile and landline numbers, however, premium numbers and international calls do cost extra.

Superior Community Fibre routers

The Community Fibre packages offer a free Linksys Velop Dual-band Intelligent Mesh router as standard, which is more than capable of providing the excellent speeds offered by the various packages. It is one of the best routers available on the market and it has received excellent reviews.

In addition, if you sign up for one of the Gigafast packages you will receive two of these routers for free so that you can achieve the best possible coverage throughout your home. Although, if you would like an additional router, they are available for an extra £3 per month on top of your usual bill. Usually, this router would cost roughly £200 to purchase, so this is an excellent price.

Community Fibre – Community projects

As the name would suggest, Community Fibre is focused on supporting those it serves through a variety of community projects. This means various initiatives are offered to provide opportunities for education, employment, training, and social inclusion. The company aims to shrink the digital divide so that all Londoners can access their fast broadband connections at prices that are affordable.

A great example is the Free Gigafast internet connections which are offered to libraries and community centres so that locals can all access fast Community Fibre speeds in these central hubs. The company also trains individuals to act as digital ambassadors, who are trained to help individuals in the community with all aspects of getting online and becoming more knowledgeable about the use of computers and social media.

Community Fibre support

The reviews suggest that the Community Fibre support team is quick and helpful, so if you need to contact the team at any point you should receive the assistance you need. The website features a useful request form that asks why you are contacting the team and it also allows attachments to be uploaded.

If you prefer, the company can also be contacted via their Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn social media pages. If you are looking to switch to Community Fibre, you can complete the online form or call the team on 0800 082 0770.

There is also a useful help and support section available via the website, which offers answers to some of the most common queries. So, it is always worth checking this section before contacting the team as you may find the information you need.

Our Community Fibre review

Despite Community Fibre being a relatively young company, the reviews so far are very promising, with a Trustpilot rating of excellent. The company is rated as the number 1 internet provider in the UK on Trustpilot, number 1 in the world for communications under 500 at the WCA awards, and in 2020, it won the ISPA award for the best consumer internet service.

There are a handful of companies available to those in London which also offer ultrafast and gigafast speeds, the biggest two being Hyperoptic and Virgin Media. In November 2020, Virgin Media began offering a 1Gbps connection to those in London, with Hyperoptic also expanding their service throughout the capital based on a building-by-building demand. In terms of pricing, the Community Fibre broadband connection is the cheapest, however, the contract lengths of 24 months are longer than those with other providers. Of course, there is an option for a 12 month or a 30-day rolling contract, however, this does push the price up.

In our opinion, Community Fibre is a great broadband service for those who are able to get connected. However, availability is limited, and you may find that you are not located in a coverage area. We recommend using the postcode checker to find out whether Community Fibre broadband is attainable, and if not, there are other providers which will be able to offer the speeds you need. If you would like to find out more about comparing broadband packages, please contact our team today and we can talk you through the process of comparing and switching to a new broadband provider.
