About Exascale

Before signing up for any broadband provider, it’s important to make sure you know a little about the company you’re teaming with, including the provider’s history, principles, and working practices. There’s a lot to know about Exascale. They are a Shropshire based ISP that have a range of business and residential packages. Their residential broadband offering extends to Gigabit full fibre broadband connections with an average speed of 900Mbps. Exascale Gigabit Full Fibre Home Broadband totally replaces your home phone line and connects you to our Gigabit full fibre network to provide you an always-on ultra high speed internet connection.

Who is Exascale?

Exascale are a UK telephony, network, infrastructure and applications provider which believes in getting the fundamentals right. They have been delivering enterprise level services and hosting to businesses worldwide since 2009. Exascale say that they continuously invest in their infrastructure and services to give you the confidence that the service you’re buying is secure, resilient, reliable and highly available.

How fast is Exascale?

Broadband connections are measured by two kinds of speed: download speed and upload speed. The download speed of a broadband service measures how fast information and images can be downloaded. This includes loading web pages, emails, images, and even streaming TV and games.

Upload speed measures how quickly data can be uploaded via the internet connection. Upload speeds are typically slower than download speeds, and they’re also usually less of a priority for most customers. This might affect how quickly you can upload videos to YouTube, but it might also affect the quality of video calls on Skype, WhatsApp, and other platforms.

Exascale has a variety of services to serve customers individual broadband needs. Exascale’s full fibre broadband packages range from 50Mbps to 1000Mbps.

With Exascale offering full fibre (FTTP) broadband, they a key Alt Net in helping the Government to bring Gigabit Broadband to 85% of UK premises by 2025. This makes them ideal for future-proofing your home and for homes that have a high usage of Broadband- whether that be for running a business, streaming or gaming. The power of FTTP means their speeds is all you will need.

How much does Exascale cost?

Exascale has a range of connection solutions meaning a range of prices. Naturally with full fibre broadband (FTTP) being the latest generation of connectivity, it carries a premium. Comparing their Gigabit package (1000Mbps) to other Alt Net providers, Exascale has mid-table pricing. This is priced at £48.99 per month with other Alt Nets such as B4RN and Fibrehop pricing their Gigabit package between £30 and £40 per month. However, this does not necessarily mean they are a bad option as Alt Nets are often limited to a coverage of a small area, so providers like B4RN and Fibrehop are not direct alternatives to Exascale. Futhermore, Exascale are building their own network, which would make them the only FTTP provider in an area.

How long is the minimum contract length with Exascale?

Exascale’s broadband packages come with a minimum contract length of 18 months.  This is a pretty reasonable minimum contract length and most providers offer contracts of between 12 and 24 months.

How do I check if Exascale is in my area?

The Exascale website has a postcode checker here (https://www.exascale.co.uk/getfibre), which you can use to check whether Exascale covers your area. Simply type your postcode into the box to check if Exascale coverage is available to you.

Exascale currently covers the Telford and Wrekin area of Shropshire. If they aren’t operating in your area at the moment, it’s worth keeping an eye out; this broadband provider is always looking for new areas to expand into.

What is Exascale’s coverage in the UK?

Exascale does not currently offer nationwide coverage. Instead they operate in the Telford and Wrekin area of Shropshire with recent expansion projects into West Bromwich.

If you’ve checked and you’re not living in an area covered by Exascale, you can also get in touch with the company and suggest your area as Exascale’s next project.

What sort of router do you get with Exascale?

The type of router provided with a broadband package is just as important as the speeds you expect with it. For example, if you purchased Gigabit speed broadband but your router was not Gigabit capable, you would not be able to get the advertised speeds. This then makes the choice of router a very important factor in choosing a broadband package. Exascale provide you with a ultrafast Tenda MW5s total home Mesh Wifi system. The system comes with one main node and two slave nodes, giving you whole home coverage.
