Get Alerted When Faster Speeds Go Live In Your Area

How fast is italk’s broadband?

Their slogan is ‘Broadband. Simple. Italk.’ and italk certainly achieve this with four straightforward packages of various speeds to suit your needs. So, what are these four options and when might you need them? The most basic package starts at 10mbps, this is the lowest speed of wifi you can find on any modern broadband package. It’s great if you use wifi for surfing and shopping but if your household has people of a more active online nature with gaming, streaming Netflix and working from home for example, then the next package up at 35mbps. This is also a fibre connection so may be restricted to areas with fibre infrastructure. But if you can’t get fibre now, don’t worry! Fibre is the future and you should be able to by 2025. The third deal is the same speed and the same fibre BUT they are currently running this as an online exclusive deal with one month free for signing-up. Well worth looking into! Finally italk’s top package is 63mbps superfast fibre. If your household burns through Wifi and has more strenuous activities such as lots of uploading and you just need things done quicker, this is more for you. Altogether, italk doesn’t overcomplicate things, they do as they say, keep it simple and make this very easy for you to decide.

If you want to test your current speeds against italk, speed tests are the easiest way to do so. You don’t need to sign up and it takes less than one minute. Similarly, if you are an italk customer and italk is down, you can use this tool to troubleshoot the issue.

How much does italk broadband cost?

With broadband packages, the higher the speed, the higher the cost. Italk starts at £19.99 per month. With big industry players like SKY starting at around £25 per month for 11mbp, this is a competitive price for sure. Moving up, you can get 35mbps for £30.49 per month. After Compare Fibre undertook some research we discovered that this is actually one of the more expensive prices relative to service, you can read more about this here: https://www.techdigest.tv/2021/02/broadband-users-overpaying-by-up-to-27-a-month-claims-research.html. However, there is an upside. They are currently running an online promotional deal where you can get the same package with one month free if you sign-up online.

Finally, italks ‘pièce de résistance’ is there 63 mbps superfast fibre package for £35.49. This is still on the pricey side, so what else do you get for this price? Italk claims to have “Unrivalled customer service”, which is always handy incase of a problem.

How long is the minimum contract length for italk broadband?

Contracts are very important for both the customer and the provider. From the customers side, it provides clarity and an ensured standard of service. From a provider’s side, the longer it is, the less chance there is of a customer switching. With them ranging from anywhere between one and two years, italk is on the long-term side of the spectrum with all contracts being 24 months. With this, they guarantee no price increases during the contract, which makes budgeting easier and giving you peace of mind.

How do I check if italk broadband is in my area?

With so many different ‘Alt Nets’ popping up, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s in your area. Luckily there are a couple of ways to simplify this. The first is a postcode checker provided by italk themselves. By selecting your address they will tell you which packages and approximate speeds you have available.

A second way you can look into this is via our very own comparison system which searches your postcode to show all deals in your area. This could range from the big players such as SKY or BT, right to new Alt nets with one package. The whole picture is just a postcode away.

What is italk coverage in the UK?

Coverage refers to the measure of distance that a provider can provide service across. Italk is available nationally, providing your area has the infrastructure necessary to support their services. Normally, this means anywhere that has an Openreach connection but this is always worth checking before seeking to buy. It can be FTTP or FTTC, which refers to fibre and is associated with better speeds and connections. There is also ADSL which is a more basic copper based system which is slowly but surely becoming obsolete. You can read about this in more detail on our Community page: https://community.comparefibre.co.uk/t/what-s-the-difference-between-fttc-and-fttp/62

A handy way to check coverage in your area is by using Ofcoms UK coverage map: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/broadband-coverage

What sort of router do you get with italk?

Routers function as a wireless access point to the internet for all devices on a network. The size of your house, thickness of the walls and number of devices can all impact upon what sort of quality of a connection you will achieve around your home. Italk offer a standard router with all of their packages, worth £99. This is a standard part of a contract and is an expected necessity of fibre broadband.

If you have a large house with thick walls, it’s always a good idea to check if one router will give you good connectivity across your home. If not, it may be worth researching Wifi boosters or wired connections via an ethernet cable.

What is the italks customer service number?

Italks customer service number is 0330 4043 500. Before calling it is always worth researching the issue first to aid with providing a solution. You can find helpful tips about this on out Community page: https://community.comparefibre.co.uk/t/tips-for-speeding-up-provider-support/102/5
